You might be able to tell from the outset that I have taken a sip of the Elon Musk Kool-Aid and recently invested in a new 2023 Tesla Model 3 Standard (aka Rear Wheel Drive) ‘car’.
And it was with deep sadness that I chose to part with my amazing 2017 Toyota Prius Prime (Advanced model):
My rationale for this irrational behavior has already been explained in detail here:
But to summarize, I was seeking simplicity and reliability. I believe I achieved this with the Tesla. Some will say ‘this is backwards reasoning’. Today, hybrids and plug-in hybrids are a sensible choice for many. So, my point about driving a fully electric vehicle is that you will be ‘driving the future’, and Tesla is the embodiment of that. Given the right conditions (which I’ll get into in future posts), some are able to experience the future today, with little compromise.
I was just getting impatient and wanted to experience the future now. And that’s what this site is all about. Electric vehicles ARE the future, and Tesla has given us a vision of what it could look like, and I’m a fan!
And since this an ‘About Me’ page, here’s me:
Details of my past and present can be found in my LinkedIn profile here.
And here are a couple other sites I maintain. The first one is an archive of courses I created for seniors that are members of the Center for Learning in Retirement at Delaware Valley University. I also post technology-related tips that seniors might find useful here. It’s seniortechadvisor.com. If you’re a senior and have an interest in technology, this site might be worthwhile checking out.
The second site is ratelectricbike.com. Using the rat rod concept of turning ‘junk’ into something cool and functional (in this case, turning a cast-off bicycle into an e-bike), I discuss some of my DIY e-bike projects, and included on the site are courses that I taught regarding e-bike technology, local trails, and applicable regulations. If you’re into e-bikes, building or buying, then this site is for you.
In the past I have built sites about aviation (ADS-B specifically, while it was still being deployed globally), and about drones (which I cancelled since I have yet to get my Part 107 certification). But today I have ‘electrification’ on my mind and that’s where my focus will be starting in 2024. And as the director of the new Bucks County chapter of the Tesla Owners Club of Pennsylvania, I’ll be focusing on giving the local Tesla community the support it needs. Owning a Tesla, or any electric vehicle for that matter, comes with some interesting challenges. TOCPA and DVTOC are both here to help ALL Tesla owners, and I’m proud to be part of these programs that do that.
